Using Cora, often times there are deficits that you need or want to use but would generally come across as spammy.

This is a new post that I'll update semi-regularly with creative or alternative solutions for inserting the data.

Fancy SEO Optimised Headings

I've seen a lot of web design sites with headings that change the words in them, and thought to myself... What if we could use that to our advantage.

A way to fit more keyword deficits in headings AND still make them something a client would be happy having on their page.

The result:

We Are Experts In: SEO On-Page SEO Optimisation Link Building Technical SEO Ecommerce SEO Add more entities Add more variants Add more LSI

A heading that loops through all the keyword deficits and phrases we need to have in order to meet the requirements of our Cora on-page optimisation.

Below, you can see it has all terms stuffed in the heading.

H2 Headings Output

You can use this for any type of heading, and I think it is generally best used for H1 tags.

Most people (myself included) prefer to have a single H1 tag. Rather than having a super long keyword-stuffed, spammy-looking heading, why not make it a design feature.

Let's dissect the code to see how it works:

The HTML Structure:

<div>
  <div>
    <h2 class="dynamic-heading">
      We Are Experts In: <span class="fancy-headings">SEO</span>
      <span class="fancy-headings">On-Page SEO Optimisation</span>
      <span class="fancy-headings">Link Building</span>
      <span class="fancy-headings">Technical SEO</span>
      <span class="fancy-headings">Ecommerce SEO</span>
      <span class="fancy-headings">Add more entities</span>
      <span class="fancy-headings">Add more variants</span>
      <span class="fancy-headings">Add more LSI</span>
    </h2>
  </div>
</div>

The Javascript making the magic happen:

<script>
// Function to sequentially show one of the fancy headings
function showSequentialHeading() {
const headings = Array.from(document.querySelectorAll('.fancy-headings'));

// Find the currently displayed heading
const currentVisible = headings.find(heading => heading.style.display !== 'none');

// If none are displayed yet, display the first one
if (!currentVisible) {
headings[0].style.display = 'inline';
return;
}

// Otherwise, hide the current one and show the next
currentVisible.style.display = 'none';
const currentIndex = headings.indexOf(currentVisible);
const nextIndex = (currentIndex + 1) % headings.length;
headings[nextIndex].style.display = 'inline';
}

// Call the function once to show the first heading on page load
showSequentialHeading();

// Set the interval to change the heading every 5 seconds
const intervalSeconds = 5;
setInterval(showSequentialHeading, intervalSeconds * 1000); // Convert seconds to milliseconds
</script>

The script is designed to:

This creates a dynamic, rotating display of keywords, phrases, or any terms we want wrapped in a heading tag.

Lastly, add this CSS to hide the list of keywords and only show the one being looped into the heading:

.fancy-headings {
display: none;
}

Technically, this is a white-hat way of hiding keywords because we are in fact showing them to users... just in 5 second intervals. Totally plausible as a design feature and not part of an SEO optimisation 😉

Here is the full code + script - You can use this and add it to a code block on your page, or modify it to suit your needs (Just make sure to add the CSS above as well):

<!-- Fancy heading -->
<div>
<!-- Dynamic heading item list -->
<div>
<h2 class="dynamic-heading">
We Are Experts In: <span class="fancy-headings">SEO</span>
<span class="fancy-headings">On-Page SEO Optimisation</span>
<span class="fancy-headings">Link Building</span>
<span class="fancy-headings">Technical SEO</span>
<span class="fancy-headings">Ecommerce SEO</span>
<span class="fancy-headings">Add more entities</span>
<span class="fancy-headings">Add more variants</span>
<span class="fancy-headings">Add more LSI</span>
</h2>
</div>
</div>
<script>
// Function to sequentially show one of the fancy headings
function showSequentialHeading() {
const headings = Array.from(document.querySelectorAll('.fancy-headings'));

// Find the currently displayed heading
const currentVisible = headings.find(heading => heading.style.display !== 'none');

// If none are displayed yet, display the first one
if (!currentVisible) {
headings[0].style.display = 'inline';
return;
}

// Otherwise, hide the current one and show the next
currentVisible.style.display = 'none';
const currentIndex = headings.indexOf(currentVisible);
const nextIndex = (currentIndex + 1) % headings.length;
headings[nextIndex].style.display = 'inline';
}

// Call the function once to show the first heading on page load
showSequentialHeading();

// Set the interval to change the heading every 5 seconds
const intervalSeconds = 5;
setInterval(showSequentialHeading, intervalSeconds * 1000); // Convert seconds to milliseconds
</script>

Don't want them in sequential order? How about randomizing them!

This code randomly loops through Keywords instead of sequential order (again, add the CSS too!):

<!-- Fancy heading -->
<div>
<!-- Dynamic heading item list -->
<div>
<h2 class="dynamic-heading">
This Heading Randomly Loops Through Keywords <span class="fancy-headings">SEO</span>
<span class="fancy-headings">On-Page SEO Optimisation</span>
<span class="fancy-headings">Link Building</span>
<span class="fancy-headings">Technical SEO</span>
<span class="fancy-headings">Ecommerce SEO</span>
<span class="fancy-headings">Add more entities</span>
<span class="fancy-headings">Add more variants</span>
<span class="fancy-headings">Add more LSI</span>

</h2>
</div>
</div>
<script>
// Function to randomly show one of the fancy headings
function showRandomHeading() {
const headings = Array.from(document.querySelectorAll('.fancy-headings'));
// Hide all headings
headings.forEach(heading => heading.style.display = 'none');

const randomIndex = Math.floor(Math.random() * headings.length);
// Show random heading
headings[randomIndex].style.display = 'inline';
}

// Call the function once to show a heading on page load
showRandomHeading();

// Set the interval to change the heading every 5 seconds
const intervalSeconds = 5;
setInterval(showRandomHeading, intervalSeconds * 1000); // Convert seconds to milliseconds
</script>

This idea was inspired by Ted's SEO Volatility page with the animated word cloud on his site.

It contains a whole bunch of 'keyword stuffing' goodness, while being totally plausible as simply being a fancy animated word cloud.

Under the hood:

More to come!

I've just made this page, but there are many other creative ideas I've had to come up with for implementing Cora optimisations. I'll update this page with more whenever I get the time.

Hi there, I'm Kyle, an SEO expert who has been working in this field for years. I know firsthand how crucial it is to find the right keywords to improve your website's SEO rankings. That's why I'm excited to share some of the best keyword research tools that I've tried and tested over the years.

If you're looking to drive traffic to your website, finding the right keywords is key. It's not just about choosing any old keyword, but finding profitable and relevant ones that will help you rank higher on Google. As an SEO consultant, I've used a variety of keyword research tools to help clients, and myself improve SEO strategies and rank better.

In this guide, I'll be sharing some of the best keyword research tools that I've used and found to be effective. These tools can help you uncover hidden keywords, analyze your competitors' keywords, and find profitable long-tail keywords that you may have missed. With these tools, you'll be able to take your SEO strategy to the next level and drive more traffic to your website. So, let's dive in!

Best free keyword research tools

Sometimes, the best things in life are free. Here are some of the best free keyword research tools that can help you find profitable and relevant keywords:

1. Google Keyword Planner

If you're new to keyword research, Google Keyword Planner is a fantastic free tool to get started with. With its recent updates, you can easily find relevant keywords and get ideas for new and trending keywords. It also provides insights on how often keywords are searched and the level of competition for each, making it easier to choose keywords that have less competition.

My favourite use for Google Keyword Planner is to find trending topic opportunities.

Simply open up the Keyword Planner, and select 'Get New Ideas'. Enter in a few topically relevant terms (these can be quite broad).

using broad keywords in Google Keyword Planner

Enter your location such as 'New Zealand' and click on 'Get Results'

Find Trending Keywords in Google Keyword Planner

Using the 'Three month change' column, you'll see the keywords that have recently spiked in interest. Obviously, my example was a little skewed from including AI within SEO, so there are a lot of AI related keywords. But generally you'll find loads of relevant trending keywords within your industry that you can use as part of your marketing strategy.

Google Keyword Planner is a versatile tool that can be used for both organic and paid search campaigns. It's perfect for identifying high-volume keywords that can help increase traffic to your website. With its ability to provide data on competition levels, you can gain insights into which keywords will be easier to rank for and which ones may require more effort.

2. Google Search Console

Yes, another free Google product.

For this, you'll need to ensure that you have Search Console installed on your website, and that the website actually has some data. For newer sites, even if you've got a few pages you should be okay to use this once they are indexed and collecting information. Typically within the first few weeks of a site being indexed would be enough to get the first information.

Search Console provides such a broad range of opportunities to discover data about your site that it could be an entire blog post dedicated to it.

For now, we'll start with the basics. Search Console provides you with information around which pages are generating impressions and clicks to your website. It also has a 'Queries' tab under Performance that shows you the queries that are generating these clicks and impressions.

Google Search Console

To begin with, the Queries and Pages tabs are probably going to be your most useful places to start looking.

A nice quick-win strategy is to find pages with impressions that have low or zero clicks. Find the page and click on it to select the page.

Search Console Pages

Go back to Queries. You'll see that it has now filtered the results specifically for that page. Now you have a list of keywords that your page ranks somewhere in Google for and is getting impressions, but no clicks.

Search Console Zero Click Keyword Strategy

You can then determine the most relevant keywords for the page and start working on identifying ways to improve your SEO performance to turn those zero clicks to one or more. This is a very basic, but powerful strategy once you apply it across multiple pages and multiple keywords.

Keep in mind that this data is somewhat sampled, but it can still be useful for identifying keyword opportunities. The major drawback is that it doesn't show search volume counts, but you can get those added by using the 'Keywords Everywhere' third-party tool.

ChatGPT For Keyword Research

Yes, chatGPT can work wonders for keyword research and it just takes a bit of creativity. The key is using quality prompts. ChatGPT can be utilized for so many things within SEO and it is an incredibly valuable resource to start exploring if you haven't already.

For example, let's say you have some service pages and a few blog posts. You're stuck for ideas around which supporting content you need to create, and require some help coming up with keywords to target and blog posts fill the gap in your content.

You can take your current sitemap and get a list of all your current URLs (or export them by scraping with something like Screaming Frog). Grab the titles from them or let ChatGPT infer them based on the page URL.

You can then prompt it to analyze the list of pages you have, and request a list of supporting topics for what ever service or topic you are wanting to focus on.

ChatGPT Keyword Research Tool

For better results, you can tell ChatGPT to sort the list based on things such as competition or search volume demand. The more creative you are with your prompts, the better results you'll get.

ChatGPT Keyword Response

Keep in mind I spent less than 20 seconds from idea to result. Obviously the prompts can be much more creative, and you can get far better results. But that is just a quick idea to help provide a practical use case.

You could grab a competitors sitemap and ask it to compare it to yours and identify keyword topics that are of low competition or easy to rank for. The possibilities are literally endless depending on your creativity.

Why keyword research is important

Before diving into the best keyword research tools, it's important to understand why keyword research is so important. Keyword research is the process of identifying the search terms and phrases that people use to find information about a particular topic. By identifying these keywords, you can optimize your content to rank higher in search engine results pages (SERPs), increasing your website traffic and ultimately, your revenue.

For local businesses, this means more leads generated. For affiliate marketing websites, this means more commissions.

Affiliate marketing is becoming a popular way for businesses to grow their online presence and reach new customers in New Zealand.

Internationally, affiliate marketing is common-practice for many businesses and there is a whole ecosystem around it, and NZ is slowly catching on to the effectiveness of it. Now is a great time to learn about affiliate marketing and find out if you want to get involved.

In this article, I'll share my knowledge and insights on affiliate marketing, and break down what it is, how it works, and how you can get started making money online with affiliate marketing.

I'll also be providing a list of some of the top affiliate platforms available in New Zealand to help you get up and running.

What is Affiliate Marketing?

Affiliate marketing is a way of earning money by promoting other people’s products or services online. You get paid a commission for each sale that you generate through your affiliate links.

Essentially, it's a way for a company to sell its products by partnering with other people (affiliates) who promote their products. The affiliates earn a commission on each sale they make.

It's a win-win situation for both the company and the affiliates. The company gains increased exposure and sales, while the affiliates earn money for promoting the company's products.

For example: If a company selling shoes has an affiliate program, it could allow influencers, bloggers, or website owners to promote their shoes on their own platforms towards their audience.

When someone clicks on the affiliate's link and makes a purchase, the affiliate earns a commission. The company benefits from increased exposure and the affiliate earns money for their efforts.

Not only is it great for businesses to help them gain exposure, generate leads, and sell more products, it also provides a great opportunity for people to make money online.

Whether you're a small business owner looking to increase your online visibility or an experienced marketer or entrepreneur seeking to add another income strategy to your arsenal, affiliate marketing is a rewarding and exciting opportunity that is definitely worth exploring.

I've been doing affiliate marketing both in New Zealand and international markets for many years. Being an SEO specialist able to generate a lot of organic traffic it just makes sense to do so.

Affiliate marketing has been a great way for me to test my skills and try out new opportunities while also monetizing the assets I build.

NZ Affiliate Networks

Affiliate networks, or affiliate marketplaces act as the middle-man between affiliate marketers, and businesses looking for affiliates to promote their products or offers.

Affiliate networks typically provide a platform that facilitates the tracking of clicks, sales, and commissions, as well as the management of the affiliate program.

They make it a lot easier for both parties. If you are getting started in affiliate marketing, then affiliate networks are one of the first things you should check out.

As an affiliate, I tend to prefer affiliate networks because you often find a lot of variety, and you can apply to many affiliate programs all in one place. You can also track and monitor all of your earnings from them all in there too.

Affiliate networks also make it much easier for businesses to get started with running an affiliate program. They do much of the heavy lifting, and already have the tools needed to help you get started. Plus you have the bonus of their affiliate database to send your offer to.

I like using Commission Factory personally and prefer it over the others. It would be great if there were more New Zealand affiliate programs on there though, but it is well worth taking a look.

You can find just about any type of affiliate offers to promote through Impact. It is easy to sign up and get started, but sometimes I've found that certain affiliate programs take a while to get approved.

I like Impact and have found it to have some really great brands and generous commission rates for them. Some local brands include: Lenovo, Hello Fresh, MyRepublic, and Clearly, making it an attractive choice for both established and aspiring affiliates in New Zealand and beyond.

1. Knowledge of your niche:

Having a deep understanding of your niche, including your target audience, their needs and interests, and the products or services that they are most likely to buy.

2. A platform or audience to promote your affiliate offers to:

Whether it's a blog, a YouTube channel, a social media account, or any other platform, having a place to promote your affiliate products is a must. 5. A willingness to learn, test, and adapt:

The affiliate marketing landscape is constantly changing, so it's important to stay up-to-date with new trends and strategies in order to remain competitive.

Creating high-quality content

Creating high-quality content that is informative, engaging, and relevant to your niche is essential for building trust with your audience and driving conversions

Driving traffic to your website

There are many ways to drive traffic to your website, including search engine optimization (SEO), social media marketing, and paid advertising. It's important to have a strategy in place for driving traffic to your website and for converting that traffic into sales.

Affiliate Marketing Best Practices

Building trust with your audience

Building trust with your audience is key to success in affiliate marketing. This means creating high-quality content, being transparent about your affiliate relationship, and only promoting products that you believe in.

Promoting products you believe in

Picking the products that have the potential to make you the most money can come back to bite you if you don't seriously believe in them. It can be much harder to stay motivated and invested in your projects if you don't believe they are providing value to anyone.

Promoting products that you believe in helps build trust with your audience and maintain your reputation as an affiliate marketer. It's also more likely to result in higher conversions, sales, and a positive experience for your audience.

Disclosing your affiliate relationship

Disclosing your affiliate relationship is not only a legal requirement in many places, but it's also important for building trust with your audience. Make sure to include a disclosure on your website and in your promotional materials.

Be sure to read through the terms and conditions for the products you promote. They can have different requirements around disclosures.

Tracking your results and optimizing your strategy

Tracking your results is essential for understanding what is and isn't working in your affiliate marketing strategy. Use analytics tools to track your website traffic, conversions, and earnings, and make adjustments to your strategy as needed.

Staying up-to-date with industry changes and trends

Affiliate marketing is a constantly evolving industry, so it's important to stay up-to-date with changes and trends. This can include following industry blogs and publications, attending conferences and networking events, and staying informed about new affiliate programs and tools.

Tips for Further Success in NZ Affiliate Marketing

Choosing the right products to promote

Choosing the right products to promote is essential for success in affiliate marketing. Look for products that are relevant to your niche and have a good reputation.

Creating engaging content that converts

Creating engaging content that is relevant to your niche and promotes the products you are promoting is key to success in affiliate marketing. Use a variety of content formats, such as blog posts, videos, and social media posts, to keep your audience engaged.

Work on building an email list

Even if email isn't the primary source of your focus with affiliate marketing, developing an email list is a great way to ensure that you have a solid database of relevant people interested in what you are promoting. This way you can continuously engage with them and provide further value, or tell them about new products.

Solid email lists can be a great source of additional affiliate marketing revenue.

Building a strong social media presence

Social media can be a great way to promote your affiliate products and build your audience. Focus on building a strong social media presence by creating engaging content and interacting with your followers.

Depending on what you are promoting, and what type of affiliate marketer you are, you may use social media in a wide range of ways. From simply using it as a retargeting tool with paid ads, through to developing a large, loyal following. There is no set rule that social media is a requirement, but it is always a good idea to not rely on one source of traffic.

Fostering relationships with other affiliates, affiliate managers, and industry leaders

Fostering relationships with other affiliates and industry leaders can be a great way to learn from others and stay up-to-date with industry changes and trends. Developing good communication with your affiliate managers can also enable you to get customized deals and commission rates based especially if you are generating a good amount of sales and conversions.

Taking advantage of seasonal and holiday trends

Seasonal and holiday trends can be a great opportunity for affiliate marketers to promote relevant products and drive sales. Make sure to plan ahead and create content that is relevant to the upcoming season or holiday.

Affiliate Marketing NZ: Conclusion

Discovering the top affiliate programs in New Zealand is only the beginning. Ensuring a stable flow of traffic and sales is a whole different ball game.

There are countless ways to achieve success in affiliate marketing, in my opinion, the most reliable approach is to establish an affiliate website. This enables you to evade the uncertainty of constantly evolving social media algorithms in order to reach your desired audience.

By building an affiliate website, you can create a reliable platform to showcase your content, products, or services to your audience, all while having full control over the presentation and functionality of your site. An affiliate website can assist you in building your brand and reputation, which will in turn increase the trust and loyalty of your audience towards your offerings.

Having an affiliate website provides you with the flexibility to diversify your income streams, experiment with different marketing strategies, and collaborate with various brands and products that align with your niche and target audience. This ultimately leads to higher potential for growth and increased profitability in the long run.
